Meet Our Scholars

Ibrahim Juma is 15 year old student in the eighth grade through the Back to School Project. Because he is living with people who are not his relatives, he is in great physical and educational need. He enjoys coming to the Back to School Program on Tuesdays and Thursdays to hear the Word of God. He is a very intelligent boy and even spends time helping his friends with their schoolwork.

 

By finishing his education, Ibrahim would love to become a pilot so that he can visit many other countries. In his free time he enjoys playing soccer with his friends. He considers Francis Lawrence to be his best friend.

Paul James, older brother to Timothy James (see blog), is thirteen years old and is a caregiver to his younger siblings due to the death of their parents.  In order to care for them, he must pick up odd end jobs while trying to obtain an education at the same time. With so much responsibility on his plate, the Back to School Project seeks to provide him with as much assistance and care as possible. Paul loves coming to the project to hear the good news in the Word of God. His heart is so thankful to have the extra help. Daniel Kamoto is a hardworking 14 year old boy in a family with seven children. His father passed away while his mother remains in the village, leaving him to live with his older sister in Blantyre. After Daniel finishes school, he dreams of becoming a doctor so that he, himself, can help his mother who is aging. Through the Back to School Project, Daniel has the chance to hopefully receive financial support so that he can pursue his goals of becoming a doctor.  With the instruction of a social worker, he also has the chance to hear God's Word and receive extra help on his homework assignments.

Cynthia Kachingwe, a super sweet 15 year old gril from Blantyre has big dreams and a great potential to go far. With a huge passion for traveling, she is interested in pursuing a college level education in the the tourism industry. Through the Back to School Project, we hope to empower her to do just that.

 

Cynthia has lost both of her parents and has no one to look after her. As she reflects on her happiest memory in life, she thinks of the birthday party her father threw for her many years ago.
